Valladolid is the chosen venue for the First Global Business Mediation Summit. This historical city has seen the wedding ceremony of Ferdinand and Isabella in 1469, the last years of Christopher Columbus, and the first drafts of Don Quixote written by Miguel de Cervantes, but it was also the setting for an unprecedented debate on human rights and dignity in the 16th century, almost 400 years before the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948). The so-called ‘Valladolid Debate’ was such a benchmarking event that it can be considered the birth of the concept of Human Rights.
A stroll through Valladolid gives us a glimpse of its past as the capital city of Spain, visible in its monuments, museums, churches and streets.
Valladolid is a national reference for gastronomy-and-wine tourism, with creative and innovative projects.
