MARÍA BACAS

Extensive national and international professional experience for more than twenty-five years in negotiations, corporate affairs, management and contracting.

Trained as a lawyer, since 1987 I was for almost twenty years Director of Legal Counsel, in several multinational companies, thirteen of which as Director and Secretary of the Board of Directors of Grupo Vips (leading restaurant group) and Starbucks Spain, France and Portugal (2003-2016). Previously, I worked in the Energy sector: Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) from 1992 to 1999 and, after the merger with Alstom, where I held the positions of General Counsel, Secretary and member of the Board of Directors of several companies of the Alstom Group (1999 -2003), where I collaborated with large, medium and small corporations from different countries and different sectors.

In November 2016, I obtained my accreditation as an international Mediator and Negotiator by CEDR (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution of London), a prestigious leading independent ADR organization.

Subsequently, building on my international career, experience and expertise in corporate-legal matters as in-house counsel in complex transactions and motivated by my commitment to the business environment, mediation and other ADR, I started my own firm.

I am a member of CEDR London as a mediator and part of its faculty as a faculty, coach and consultant in Spain and abroad.

From January 2018 to date, I partnered with MIND THE LAW, S.L.P., a legal-business services and consulting firm that aims, with a global approach, to help the different actors involved in the business environment to reach agreements and resolve disputes with flexible and strategic advice provided as a trusted partner. In addition, through MIND THE AGREEMENT, we develop mediation, negotiation and conflict resolution as appropriate mechanisms to prevent and resolve commercial disputes and to reach agreements in the business environment.
