Ana Prado Blanco joined Mercedes-Benz España in 2012 as general counsel and corporate secretary of the Spanish subsidiary of the German automaker, which encompasses 12 different entities. Prado Blanco serves as secretary of the board of directors of seven different companies in Spain belonging to Mercedes-Benz España, which is the holding company of the Daimler Group in Spain.

Since her recognition in the 2016 GC Powerlist: Iberia, she has been actively involved in restructuring the processes and organization of the board of directors, organizing training courses on the new legal requirements, duties and obligations of directors over the past two years. He has also worked to establish key corporate governance principles such as leadership, integrity, accountability, sustainability and risk management.

I firmly believe that engaging directors and promoting balanced and dedicated corporate governance has a positive impact on the business, increases the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management, leading to multiple benefits on a sustainable basis,” says Prado Blanco. Over the years, Prado Blanco has played a key role in a number of changes, such as implementing an instant internal communication process, offering a wide range of tools and resources available online for the entire company, and providing information and support in an extremely accessible way. One example of this is an internal training plan called “Know Your Legal Department” which, according to Prado Blanco, has received a high level of participation and satisfaction from colleagues in the firm. Prado Blanco cites that the most important change during his time at the company has been the restructuring and reorganization project that took place in 2016.

This reorganization was part of an overall Daimler business strategy aimed at strengthening the company, granting greater flexibility to increase dedication and capacity for more personalized attention to customers in each business unit. As a valued internal business partner in close contact with the company’s management, she is an active member of the Daimler community and an advocate of the “Working out Loud” concept, which helps organizations to create more collaborative cultures and individuals to access a better career and quality of life.
